2010 Not-So-Haunted House

Here is the floor plan for the 2010 Not-So-Haunted House:

Saturday, October 30 - I got home from the campout around 1:00. We started the haunted house at 5:00, so we worked frantically in the last four hours to finish setting everything up. We had a pretty good turnout of 50-70 people considering our location and lack of history in the area. Highlights from this year included an expanded dot room, and the laser vortex.

The only problem was that the laser vortex needs fog to complete the effect. And all three of the fog machines that I got working quit on us about a half hour before the haunted house started. I tried to create my own fog machine by boiling fog juice on a camp stove, but that didn't work very well. Apparently the fog juice will spontaneously combust if you get it hot enough. I followed a group through with the video camera and was surprised to find a 3-ft-tall bonfire in the corner. Luckily nothing was touching it, and I was able to smother it quite easily. So all-in-all, it was a lot of fun. I had forgotten how much more fun little kids are than college students. Trick-or-treaters actually get scared.
