On October 23 and 30, we did our haunted house. It was great. We had tons of help from neighbors. The 12 & 13-year-olds are much more enthusiastic about helping than my age group. Mark and Hyrum and Jeff helped, but that was it for people my age. They entered through the arbor and walked past the strobe-lit coffin. They walked past the gallows, upon which my skeleton hung the first night but not the second because someone stole it. They walked over the bridge then in front of the garden. We had three stuffed scarecrows and two real ones. The two real ones slowly followed the group, but it freaked everyone out with the strobelight. They then watched the guillotine then went into the shed. We had the ghost girl at the end of the tunnel. There wasn't anything else in there, which scared a lot of people because they had no clue where someone was going to jump out. It turns out we had someone in the fort above the shed that would jump really had a scare them that way. Surprise them from every angle. That's our motto. They then went back and went through the tunnel. It was pretty typical except that we had someone blow them with compressed air. That worked really well. Then they went onto the patio for the mad scientist. Then they went past the toxic victim on the cement pad and out through the grave yard in the front. It was a huge success. We had people backed up along the sidewalk the whole night. At one time, we had over 70 people in line. We figure that we had over 550 people come through. It was great. It helps that it made the front page of the Springville Herald. Originally I just asked them to put our flyer in. The lady there was interested and wanted to know more. She interviewed my mom and me and wrote up an article. It almost made me late for school, but it was worth it. What a great year for the Haunted House.
